Sound City announce stages with Edge Hill University, BIMM, plus Hope University and City of Liverpool College

Since 2008, Sound City has been the starting point for student artists including The Wombats, Stealing Sheep and Outfit, as well as Ed Sheeran when he was a student at Access to Music.


We’re delighted to host a series of showcases this year of explosive new artists from some of the UK’s top music institutions….


Edge Hill University


Sound City are delighted that Edge Hill University are Industry Connection Partner for the 2015 Festival and Conference.

This is the third time that Edge Hill, the UK University of the Year, is partnering with Sound City. This year Edge Hill have stepped up their involvement to become the official sponsor of the Marketplace at the Sound City Conference, as well as hosting a showcase of its not-for-profit record label, The Label Recordings.


In 2014, Jeff Barrett from Heavenly Recordings signed Hooton Tennis Club at The Label showcase, and we’re excited to see the new crop of artists who will be making their debut at Sound City 2015.

Riding high on BIMM’s success with multi-selling, award winning artists such as George Ezra, Tom O’Dell and James Bay, Ed Drewett (One Direction songwriter), Debbie Knox Hewson and Elizabeth Caney (Charlie XCX), we invite you to be amongst the first to discover emerging talent from across our BIMM colleges.


Five diverse acts, selected by the Liverpool Sound City A&R team, will perform at The Festival Cavern Tent on Saturday 23rd May from 2.45-5.45pm.

Liverpool Hope University


Sound City is working with outstanding arts university, Liverpool Hope as an official partner for the 2015 festival and conference.

Singer/Songwriter Susie Cox, Fine Art student Tony Dixon and blues rock band The Aglets ,made up of Liverpool Hope University music students Connor Banks-Devlin (Guitar), Paul Davies (bass), Bradley Baines (drums), and Tanith-Louise Tomkinson (vocals) will perform at The Titanic Hotel and Kaskelot Boat stage from 21st to 24th May.


City of Liverpool College


Sound City have formed an innovative partnership with the regions largest higher education provider City of Liverpool College.

Working in partnership across the faculties of Performing Arts, Media and Journalism, Art and Fashion, ICT, students work will be showcased throughout the festival and conference, including short films and animation, games and Apps showcase, Student artists performing include:
