Screenadelica started in Liverpool in a former hardware store on Renshaw Street during Liverpool Sound City in 2009. An exhibition focusing on screen printed gig posters, it would become a unique fixture of the city where music and art intersect. Although Liverpool Sound City is its ‘home’ festival, Screenadelica has since been invited to exhibit at festivals all over the world including Bestival(UK), Primavera Sound Barcelona(ES), Optimus Primavera(PT), OFF Festival(PL), Orlando Calling(US) and Hillside Festival (CAN). Screenadelica has gone on to design and commission posters for some of the worlds biggest acts including Bjork, Pixies, New Order, Elton John, Florence and the Machine, Stevie Wonder and many more.
This year sees Screenadelica presenting a boutique gig poster show focusing on its founder, graphic designer and screen printer Horse. Though he has since worked for many international clients, Horse honed his craft in Liverpool, and some of his most iconic and best-loved work grew out of the local scene. While Horse has since relocated to North America, this show will offer you the opportunity to rediscover and own some of his rarest back catalog, plus many new editions from the past year since he left Liverpool’s fair streets. The show will also feature select work by a number of notable local and international guest artists that Screenadelica has had the pleasure of working with over the years, including limited edition posters from all around the world.
In continuing the strong relationship between Sound City and Screendelica, Horse is also excited to be unveiling brand new limited edition posters for a selection of this years festival headliners. A chance to glance back while always moving forward, Horse | A Retrospective, will be an artistic visual snapshot of the sounds of the city.
