Jote studied violin at the Royal Northern College of Music and in Switzerland with folk/classical violinist Volker Biesenbender. She has gained extensive experience and knowledge of recording and playing live, as well as performing on numerous tv and radio shows in the UK and worldwide.
Throughout her career Jote has been lucky to have worked with a diverse range of artists, such as Ryuchi Sakamoto, Joan Armatrading, Gloria Gaynor, Massive Attack, The Cinematic Orchestra, Gorillaz, Duran Duran, Sia and more recently, Nick Cave, Bonobo, I am Kloot, and Tired Pony.
Jote divides her time between playing live, composing, recording sessions and string arranging. She has written, arranged and recorded strings for artists including Snow Patrol, Spector, Josh Kumra, Tyler James, The Maccabees, The Zutons, Ian Broudie, I Am Kloot and Justin Currie (Del Amitri). She also sang backing vocals and played solo violin on the Roots Manuva track 'Dreamy Days' as well as singing live backing vocals for Snow Patrol, Elbow and Joan Armatrading.
For the past ten years Jote has been working and touring extensively around the world with Elbow, and played on their breakthough album The Seldom Seen Kid. More recently she has set up Manchester Session Strings, working on various projects including 'Concrete Love' the new album by The Courteeners, and the soundtrack to the film ‘Set Fire to the Stars’, with music composed by Gruff Rhys. She has also been arranging strings for ASCAP award winning songwriter and producer Tom Nichols, for his work with Marina Dalmas and Gavin James.
More recently she has worked with Beth Orton, Kiran Leonard and is a member of the band I Am Your Autopilot. As part of writing duo ‘Punkbelly’ she is composing trailers and tracks for film and tv.
