Qualified as a lawyer in 1994, decided to join his love of music with business law, and began to specialise in entertainment law. Worked in London for Searle’s Solicitors, a leading entertainment law practice with high profile clients, such as Seal, Tricky, Ash, Portishead and Jamiroquai.
Set up Gray & Co. Solicitors in Manchester in 1996 as a specialist entertainment law practice. The firm was established to provide legal services specifically to cover all aspects of the entertainment and sports industries (Atomic Kitten, Mint Royale, Sweet Female Attitude, MC Shine, Lemn Sissay, Rae & Christian, Factory Records, Grand Central Records).
From 1998 to 2006, Rudi worked with Tony Wilson as a contributor of “In the City” music conference and Black Music Unsigned and other live showcases. During this period ‘In The City’ showcased, The Darkness, Coldplay along with many others.
From 2011 to 2013, worked at Kuit Steinart Levy LLP as a Consultant solicitor to expand and develop the firm’s Intellectual Property department by incorporating entertainment, sport and fashion law.
In addition to being a lawyer I was MD of Grand Central Music Publishing Ltd. from 1998 to 2013 and a director of Grand Central Records from 1996 to 2005, signing writers to the publishing company and artists to the record label.
Rudi is a member of the USA based lawyers group Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association.
Since November 2013 Rudi has worked for IPS Law LLP on entertainment, sports law and other intellectual property matters.
Rudi has acted for many unsigned and emerging artists and high profile clients during his legal career. His legal experience, extends to offering advice and assistance in all aspects of the entertainment industry. Rudi is always keen to find new music and new artist.
