Since they formed, Thabo & The Real Deal decided they would ‘make the type of music Bob Marley would listen to if he were still alive today’.
This guiding principle, sees them tackle political and other conscious themes head on, in a manner that is easy on the ear and stimulating to the mind.
Fronted by a Zimbabwean singer, the band shys away from drumkit, bass and brass – relying instead on Fender Rhodes (Aron Kyne), percussion (Ali Mac), acoustic guitar (Emmanuel Allert) and vocals (Thabo Mkwananzi) to bring their brand of ‘bare knuckle soul’ to life.
The band have a solid reputation for delivering dynamic live shows which has earned them support slots for Eric Roberson, Avery Sunshine, Anthony Hamilton, Omar Lye Fook, Leon Ware, Cody Chestnutt and Dwele.
The first EP, was very well received and the second outing is an altogether more potent affair, making it clear that they stand by the Bob Marley inspired manifesto.
