Beat Market is a Montreal based electronic music duo composed of Louis-Joseph Cliche and Maxime Bellavance. The two halves of the band met in university where they started jamming. In 2011 they began mapping out the compositions for what would eventually be called Red Magic - their debut record. Around the same time, the band starts playing live shows to display their sound that fuses electro, french touch and house.
The band quickly develops a strong live performance routine involving live drums, synths, extravagant costumes and a compelling light show - which gets them noticed. They will soon be invited to perform at Osheaga festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Pop Montreal, M for Montreal etc… After being nominated for “Best Electronic Record Of The Year” at the ADISQ in 2013, the band decides to reissue Red Magic - this time mixed by French Fox and mastered by Mike Marsh of legendary Exchange Studio in London (Daft Punk, Royksopp, Justice, Chemical Brothers).
In 2014, Beat Market receives two nominations for the GAMIQs in the “Best Electronic Record Of 2014” and “Best Live Show Of The Year”. After more than 50 performances this year, the band readies a second record in september2015.
