Alt-pop newcomer Jennifer Davies has just released her debut EP ‘Lapse of Time’ consisting of four different tracks, each an imaginatively styled and delivered piece of lush, diverse lo-fi pop fused with electronica, written and recorded at Whitewood Recording Studios, Liverpool working closely with producer and friend Tord Knudsen (The Wombats). From a live music background herself with plenty of touring experience, it took a couple of years of experimentation with Davies finally opting to create her own imprint, STUDIIO (Universal), before she found a solo guise she was comfortable with. Branching out on her own has given her more creative control and allowed her to be able to work with a hand-picked team of passionate and creative individuals who understand her independent ethos, and ultimately to create a credible pop effort that oozes aesthetic class.

With a sound that strikes a balance between the sumptuous and eclectic intellectual pop of Goldfrapp and the fuller strains of bands like Garbage, The Knife and Alt-J, Knudsen’s Scandinavian writing and production influence lends a touch of Röyksopp and Robyn’s mainstream sheen to proceedings, as Gwen Stefani-reminiscent melodies burrow their way into your sub-conscious.
