With fans that include Taylor Swift and comparisons to Nick Drake and Damien Rice, singer/songwriter Jesse Will's journey into music has been a remarkable one.
After the death of a close friend, Will quit his fulltime job to pursue a music career, and made his mark on the international music scene in 2013 with the release of his debut EP ‘Hold Your Cards’.
Will's poignant lyrics, and haunting, soulful voice were met with critical acclaim, and the New Zealand-born artist was named a finalist in the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition, and a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for his song 'Indigo'.
Following a move to London in 2014, Will released a stripped-back cover of Taylor Swift’s hit song ‘Shake It Off’. This saw a burst in popularity for Will when the cover caught the attention of Swift herself, who shared it with her 56 million followers. She praised the rendition, writing "my favourite covers are the ones where the artist has made it their own, changing the way the song makes you feel.”
Jesse Will's much-anticipated second EP is due in May 2015.
